About Villa Holiday and About us

When building Villa Holiday Poroszló we started off from ourselves. In the house there are things only that we love.

We like to eat in company, have a good bath, have a good sleep, we love big spaces, cleanliness, flowers, a well-kept garden. We like to have a barbecue in the garden, to dine in the summer-house, to swing, our kids love to jump in the trampoline. It feels good in the garden just to gaze, to watch storks or owls. We like to listen to the bill-clattering of the storks, the squawks of the owles, and the whirlwind of the wings of the wild geese pulling over the house. We like that excellent restaurants and a confectionery are just one-minute walk away, and we can be in the harbor within a few minutes, from where we enjoy the great water, the world of fish and waterbirds. Every morning is different, with every morning an other beautiful Lake-Tisza day begins. We will never get bored of it …

Surroundings

Lake Tisza (Hungarian: Tisza-tó), also known as Kisköre Reservoir (Hungarian: Kiskörei-víztározó), is the largest artificial lake in Hungary.
As part of the ongoing Tisza River flood control project, the Tisza Dam was built in 1973. Its filling was finished in the 1990s, resulting a 127 km² lake. The lake is 27 km in length, with an average depth of 1.3 m and a maximum depth of 17 m; it contains 43 km² of small islands.
Following the reservoir's completion, Hungarians began to flock to the site for holidays, since it compared favorably with the crowded and expensive Lake Balaton, the traditional holiday site. As a result, tourist infrastructure has been developed on the reservoir—renamed Lake Tisza—and the government has designated it an official tourism destination.
The lake (or reservoir) has a new local ecology with a diversity of birds, plants, and animals.
Lake Tisza Ecocentre in Poroszló was erected to collect and display the nature and wildlife of the Tisza River valley and Lake Tisza. It was opened to the public on 27 April 2012.
